Pico de Gallo
Pico de Gallo is more like a chunky salsa. It's the same ingredients, but salsa, instead, is blended.
Ingredients
- 3 large ripe tomatoes (1 ½ cups diced)
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- ½ tsp salt or to taste
- 1 tbsp medium hot pepper, finely chopped (jalapeño or habanero pepper)
- Pinch of black pepper, or to taste
- 1 tbsp cilantro leaves, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Slice the tomatoes in ½ inch thick, then cut them across for diced tomatoes.
- Dice the onions into a similar size as the tomato or smaller.
- Add all ingredients into a large bowl and mix for 30 seconds.
- Serve immediately, or let it sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, it will absorb all the flavors for a better taste.
Notes
Pairing: Add to tacos, wraps, over rice and bean dishes, over rice bowl and in salads.
