Peel the plantains and cut into 1 inch think cylinders.
Heat the oil to medium heat.
When hot, add the plantain pieces. Fry for 1 minute, turn over and fry for another minute.
Remove plantains from pot and gently press to shape them into thick disks.
Return plantains to the pot and fry both sides until golden.
Remove from pot and place plantains on a plate with layers of paper towel to drain the excess oil.
